Driving a small biplane of obsolete type, this young aviatrice flew from Chicago to Hornell, N.Y., 590 miles, without a stop, and topped off the record Monday morning by buzzing to Governor's Island at a 100-mile-an-hour clip. General Wood congratulated her after she had removed the woollen mask (in right-hand picture) used to keep out the cold. "Nothing to make a fuss about," she said modestly of her feat. © Underwood & Underwood [[/center margin]]
