HISTORIC PHOTOGRAPH OF WILBER WRIGHT - WITH TELEGRAM ANNOUNCING HIS DEATH

A GREAT SCIENTIST and noble character was mourned by the world when Wilbur Wright died at his home in Dayton, Ohio, on Memorial Day (May 30, 1912). The "Conqueror of the Air" fell the victim of typhoid fever at 45 years of age. This historic photograph shows him with his friend and co-worker, Frank T. Coffyn, a pioneer Wright pilot, adjusting a toy airplane he brought from Paris for Coffyn's young son, Kingsland Coffyn. The telegram is from Orville Wright: "Wilbur died this morning." These records are among America's priceless historic treasures, in the Collection of Frank T. Coffyn.
