about my "To Edwin Markham," anderson said that the first sonnet is the best & is excellent. oh! how encouraging! April 26 Tues. 1932 - Early in the morning today, Haruto & H said to me "Congratulations - you came first!" And to think I almost believed it. tsk! tsk. The decision is still not know yet. May day is coming, & I'm making plans already. I think I'll have a pinks lei from my garden - but looking over the garden, I'm wondering if there'll be enough flowers. April 27 Wed. 1932. Good news today! Am I thrilled? I place 2nd in the Junior Declamation Contest. H is first. Very queer - why Elsie Lew isn't second. But good news anyhow! Now I'm an orater also! The soph. senior contest was a howl! Especially funny was Lloyd with his gestures on "In Flanders Fields" & Stanley Yoshimura didn't know his speech at all! Oh the laughs!
