[[Strikethrough]] Mon. [[/strikethrough]] Tues. 1932 Whoops! Did my heart jump when I beheld on the floor a letter from Ha Wichman! & upon opening it, behold! I placed 2nd in the ad writing contest - a $37.50 watch! W. & others from the news Eng. class didn't even place in the honorable mention list! And I - second in the territory! It seems that I can win any contest if I try earnestly enuf [[sic]] - & I have! How many contests have I won this year! But this is the first time I get such a huge prize - now I can throw away my Sears Roebuck watch, as Du [[Fun?]] says in a letter today, congratulating me on my success.

Wed. 1932 We had a heated time at Hi-4 tonite [[sic]]. To begin, the Dorm boys came over, & I was in action on the volleyball court. Funny, but I always have the panicky feeling that I'm going to miss the ball, or something. Fortie talked to us about his India travels & talked of baboons! of all [[crossed out word]] things.

Then, Haruto enlisted my sympathy when he was run down by Groso [[?]], Willey & Hiromitou [[crossed out letter]] who said that he didn't have any club spirit in demanding payment of the $5 the the [[sic]] club owes the [[sic]] for conference delegates, of course, Haruto wanted to create a deficit in the treasury so that the members would sell more play tickets to have enuf [[sic]] money for dinners + socials. I'm leaving him tonite [[sic]], he said to us (W. & I); "That's all right; you stick with me & I'll help you out - Let's [[crossed out "us"]] stick together." - There's a real friend!

19 At the Hi 4 game (volleyball) tonite [[sic]] I did my best work so far & made many points to win over Dad's team. Then [[crossed out word "were"]] we practiced dancing on the stage. It was quite enjoyable. We're going camp next week.
