We had a dress rehearsal tonite [[sic]] - oh the costumes were beaut. - and Jack's tight undersuit was funny! oh boy! did the teachers admire my watch today!

MAY 11

Wed. 1932. H. has showed signs of liking Malcolm, so I asked him today "Dites-moi si vous l'aime." Il a dit - "bien - oui." So I said - "alors je won't stand in your way - go to it" That's what I'm doing for a pal like him - a great sacrifice too. I wouldn't do it for anyone else. Harite thinks it's foolish of me - but I'd do anything for M.

MAY 12
Thurs. 1932. H told me elle n'aime pas M. parce que R. Hanaoka est une boune amie de hers. That's settled, I hope. Oh do we have fun teasing Lily Hariets! Those two are so splendid chaps! They don't get mad - of course, parce que' ils aime chaque autre, I guess. I'm beginning to like the Hariets more & more.

19 On Friday, the 12th, we went to Kokee on our class picnic. I went with Sayeed, Fred Uribke and others & were among the last to arrive. We "tried" to see the canyon but on account of the heavy fog (the first I've seen) saw something awful that looked like the
end of the world. Due ufc of the weather, we went to Barking sands & had lots to eat. We hiked (Masas K, Sparky) around the Sands & I returned to find that Mrs. Anderson had baked a cake for me but Paul H had devoured most of it. I lost my shoes at the Sands. On the way back we had fun! Flat tire, everything! Then Kumito & others raced back to Kapoa [[strikethrough]][[/strikethrough]] so that Herb & I would be back in time for the Hi-Ycamp.
