JUNE 21
Tues. 1932. No word today from Scholastic, & no Sapling. Shucks! I got a swell job & a cruel tan. If I work there all the time, I don't wanna go Honolulu. Short John, working by me, offered me pineapple! I refused, of course I was restless tonite so I went up Kapoa, & with W, paraded the streets. What a dead town.

JUNE 22
Wed 1932. Bad news! Our Waipouli lot is next to the swamp. Imagine! Mosquitos, heat, & all. Everyone is disappointed. But not I, - I'm only concerned because, with the swamp next, we'd have to have a yard driveway- & now I'll have to
make my landscaping all over!
