June 25 Sat. 1932 Can you imagine it! I slept till 6 today + so missed a days work at the cannery & Short John didn't work too - what a coincidence. I stayed home + sent an "Ocean - depths" drawing to St. Nick. Hope I get a set of drawing inks. I sent "Sky-Magic" to St. Nick, + "to Edwin Markham" to the Star Bull - just to compete with Kenneth Ching & Ricardo Labez, regular contributors to "Our Own Poets" column. I wonder if Gensler will notice & read my poem. Hope he does & comment on it. June 26 Sun. 1932. I went swimming today and had quite a good time. I met a boy named Jauaka - rather friendly. Now I think that every boy is good if I get to know them well.
Transcription Notes:
The bit in the top margin is a continuation of the entry for June 25, so I transcribed it following the entry as it would be read in that order. It wasn't a marginal note, just a continuation.
