Mon. Mar 5 '39?

Full moonlight and I am extremely glad to be living on the east shore where moons and suns rise from the sea. Outside the door there is the wild white sound of an ocean under a full moon.

The weekend at Wanini showed me how strangely calm a sea can be, and how so strange a sight as half a mile of still water (from the shore) can be all at once familiar and natural.

The boat rides over the lagoon revealed the strangest sights and produced new emotions: far out, in a little boat, over a blue chasm of great depth. -

The rain-wind moved across the bay; the sky was cold blue.

On the way over - Kealia coast on a strange low gray, white morning - the brown waves shook clouds of white as they crashed

Never have I so fully known the feel of the island. Several moments tonight I knew I was seeing the clouds as no one had ever seen them.

Damn! why am I wasting my time teaching
