East Main - 9:30 - 7 pm.
Sunday

Rainy day.
Yellow green grassland for several miles out of Haiku. Then many miles of hauhala forest guava country - Huelo - Keanall, on a low perimeter, in the distance below. High roads, in & out of headlands & gulches of black boulders & swift streams.

The cliff drive - marvelous moist red cliff-sides, shouldered with green, overlooking the sea. Unforgettable! At every turn, a subject for a painting, an inspiration for a poem, another mile farther away from the "social consciousness" influence of Buddy, Bartlett, et al, and finally, another reaffirmation of nature consciousness. I wished so much to be home among the hills by the sea - Kealia, Anakola, Kilaula. I feel a strong desire to paint them - hills and headlands I have discovered, roamed over, and loved.
