While the abdomen and in some specimens the upper & under tail coverts are white.

A single specimen of Fulmarus giganteus was observed about noon behind the boat its clear yellow bill plainly showing and its large size readily distinguishing it.

20 or 30 specimens of a second species of Fulmarus are following the boat but whether they are F. glacialis or pacificus or F. tenuirostris impossible to say. In addition to these quite a no of small petrels are following the boat out. A [[?]] dark plumaged bird with yellow bill which has a flight much like that of the fulmari but is a bird about the size
