Saturday June 2/1877 Crossed the harbor to Amaknak Is. with "Visiclie" the priests son in the morning, to dig into some house sites I found a few days since. On the way over a swallow ([[He?]] [[howe?]]) was seen skimming about. At the ancient village site the houses were scattered about irregularly [[strikethrough]] wi [[/strikethrough]] and were nearly all small & square [[strikethrough]] with a few [[/strikethrough]] as shown by the outline of the depressions that marked the places of the houses. In the centre of the village [[strikethrough]] was [[/strikethrough]] is a long shallow depression much larger than the surrounding pits with a partition[[strikethrough]] in [[/strikethrough]] across the center an a communicating door as could be seen by the low bank of earth.
