of which the frame may be nearly shut in the manner of a pair of parallel rulers. -Dec.18- At 8 a.m. on looking to the N.W. a beautiful moon was observed which fairly glowed in its silvery lustre as it passed along the horizon in its circular course. The deep blue-black twilight shadow in that quarter forming just the needful frame to set off the silvery lustre and brilliancy of this body. Nowhere have I seen such magnificent moons as here. Its brilliancy is such that often only a few of the larger stars can be seen and I have read moderate sized print in the evening by its light.
