Kanikoff's men started early in the A.M. and a little later Kojenikoff started up the coast.
The south wind has driven the ice from shore north of here so travelling must be made over the tundra.

Dec 23-
Mr. Lorenz and I went across the bay to the other trading post after dinner and on the way over my noze [[nose]] was slightly frost bitten but a vigorus [[vigorous]] application of snow restored it. Soon after our arrival there a party of native traders with four sleds came from the canal and came to the same place. They proved to be from the tundra at the mouth of the Yukon.
After stopping to coffe and having a chat with Mr. Ketcham we [[strikethrough]] [[hitch]] [[/strikethrough]] harnessed our dogs and returned to the Redoubt after also inviting Mr. K & his assistant to come over and spend Christmas with us -
