look down into 3 coves at the foot of very tall cliffs, sharply dropping off hundreds of feet: dark, ruddy, vertical. a shrubby wildflower grew along the path: hypericum ? The plateau from the lighthouse was flat, high, dense with scrubgrowth. Where have I seen this kind of landscape before? 
 9:30pm Monday Sept 20 '65 
Today places I have known are joined. The morning started out with a threat of storm. But by 9 the skies had lightened and a faint white sun shone [[strikethrough]]from[[/strikethrough]] thru a thick sheet of grey.
We took a trail off Whistle Road + walked thru woods for about 1/2 a mile and came upon the edge of Ashburton Head (400ft) very high, affording a grand view of The Bay of Fundy in all its greatness. It was the most magnificent view of the sea I'd seen in years. The faint sun, the grey sea, the dark wind patches, the flurry of blown surfaces, the misted horizon. The low band of the cold front rolling over a fog bank. A majestic sight. 
Like a northern Kilauea Pt. sea. 
Then in the afternoon, in a fog-shrouded and windy time, we drove out to the stretch of shore
