June 22 '70. Another sunny day, & a warm mass of air. Ray Werbe came over for lettuce & spinach plants, now an inch high, & beans. Went over to help him square up the patch in his yard & to plant. Home by way of the screed banks along the coast. Planted a second row of bok [[bok choy]] & of spinach, fertilized perennials & shrubs, & opened up studio for 4 visitors, an unexpected activity. The Krausses had us over for after-dinner with Vander Sluises & Hyde, & from the lg [[large]] picture window saw the boats & the bands of low-tide in the early evening.

[[strikethrough]] Wed [[/strikethrough]] Tues 23rd June - a wasted day - (hay fever) but managed to put in a short row of radishes, put up the wire for the peas, photoed the 2 irises, watched birds, matted & framed pictures - & at 10 pm from the back step saw Arcturus, very bright.

Wed. 24th a Fine Day! at 10:30 we went to Lobster Cove to gather mussels, periwinkles, and in the low tide pools, alaria (the winged kelp). The pools were dark brown & the rocks dark grey, the sea a dark blue. We had lunch on the rocks. Found a long piece of oak board & took it to Hans for keeping until I can get Carl W. to pick it up. Matted w.c.'s [[watercolors]] & drawings (last yr's) & fertilized all the vegetables in
