their rows. Dug up bayberry, pinks, iris sibirica, etc for Hildegarde vander Sluis. They're coming over tonight for lemon pie, with the Mollers & McCartins. 

Thurs June 25 (Gussows didn't arrive.) The morning sea was very rough, waves forming & breaking in the channel; a strong wind blew from the south, and you could get a sense of the rough forces that shape the island - and of the resistance of grass & trees, and houses to the wind - and of their resiliency. By afternoon all was calm again, & the June weather was back. Planted a long row of lettuce plants - the seedlings that had come up in the spring. 

Making decisions which pictures to send to Rockport - & Boothbay. Rearranged things on studio walls. Geo. & Phoebe Palmer came by at 4 - talked about deer & gardening & stocks & bonds & poetry. Farrels also dropped in (earlier.)

Friday. 26th How pictures change over the season - There's a w.c. [[watercolor]] of Seal Ledges (of last Sept) that I thought poor & the least good of the '69 series. This week it looked the best of all.

Heard from Jan that Geo Vander Sluis had changed (from nature-expressionism) to hard-edge abstract. So it goes. 
Had mussel sauce-spaghetti last
