Mon June 29 '70 The busy season seems to have begun - the days seem shorter & the events more numerous. Spent nearly all day & night sorting drawings & watercolors & matting them, & deciding which to send to CKG & to Maine Coast Artists & which to show here & which to keep as my private collection. Visited Henry & Aun (& Matthew) dug up plants for Tamara Hareven & we were visited by Jeff & Anne Schlanger & friends the Meiselmans. Talked of seaweed, & rose petal jelly, & wildflowers & fish & vegetables. A good day - sun & wind. Gas tank was delivered after 10 days!

Tues. June 30 - a month has gone by. Would a month be shorter or longer elsewhere? The pace quickens. Herb & Zero arrived so the neighborhood is now much peopled.

Spent the whole day with the drawings & w.c.'s [[watercolors]]. Mailed 6 drngs [[drawings]] to Coe Kerr, & wrapped [[strikethrough]] 7 w. [[/strikethrough]] 5 w.c.'s + 2 drngs for Maine Coast Artists. I think about prices, [[strikethrough]] rec [[/strikethrough]] the market, the audience, & personal reaction of Mr. Kerr, the N.Y. competition, etc when I shouldn't. I'd like to put such thoughts aside but being in the profession one is not spared. Photographed the pictures, watched birds on the feeder, picked the last of the Blue Sapphire irises, and enjoyed the long stretch from afternoon into the night when a fine mist of a rain covered the island.

Wed. July 1. Wrote (2nd draft) to Mr. Coe Kerr. Mailed (7) drngs & w.c.'s to Mildred Cummings. Felt free after all that. Picked some strawberries by Gussows' road. Were visited by Glenn (Corbett) & little Zachary. All 6 went with McCartins to Palmers' at Deadman's Cove for pleasant evening - Lobster Newburg supper, birthday cake (Phoebe's) & good talk re (not poetry - but stocks & bonds!) The light from their porch is harsh & full. Home at 11 through muddy paths. Thought of deer in garden as we got home.
