Friday July 22 - Gave slide lecture 10 to 12 to my 9 students, Gunn's, Munro's & Bob Haynes' classes. 80 slides on nature, 80 of landscape ptgs. Gunn said "You are frightfully articulate." Left at 2 for the coast - via Newport. Arrived at 6 at Purdy's, 5 mi. S. of Yachats. Coming down the road: I gasped at the astonishingly beautiful & dramatic sight of the cabins as they suddenly came into view against the headlands & the swift green rise 7 & hills. What a totally beautiful setting. Roamed the beach & looked for rocks. Found "quite a few." Low Tide started going out at 7 when we had supper on rocks.

Sat July 23 - Whole width of beach & lava reef exposed in am. At low tide Tide fools. to distant sea (looked for rocks)- fog hovering over the headlands & hills & knoll. A striking coastal view
