Shep & Gloria & kids came at 2 - lunch on rocks - Talked art with Shep - walked over to creek. [[strikethrough]] Sea [[/strikethrough]] Sea mist enveloped the strand, wetting pebbles, making [[strikethrough]] af [[/strikethrough]] jaspers easier to spot. (Earlier went to cave & beyond - at south end to look for rocks - The beach was strewn with yellow & red jaspers in the incoming tide which tumbled them). After supper drove down to Yachats looking for rock shop - saw Levines there. Visited their stretch of Y. Bay & their motel. Drove back at 9:30 in foggy twilight. Foghorns over distant headlands.

Sun July 24 - The sun appeared after an overcast morning & made it one of the hottest days on the coast. Strawberry Hill Beach was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Lava crags and minature islands of barnacled lawn dotted the wide clean beach & bay on low tide. Wild strawberry on the cliffs and the background hills made an enclosure of green for the dark & golden bay. I sketched for an hour and enjoyed the scenic beauty of the place. A drive to Yachats from film and razor claws, (which we had for supper). A drive to Ten-Mile Creek - lay in hot sun on the sand & forded the creek. To 2 other state parks - & then to Heceta Lighthouse - a very dramatic setting - like Kilauea, like Swallowtail
