Sat Aug 14. A day of constant action. Wrote a letter to Nellene Smith of Doe "artmobile" protesting their "honoring" me without buying a ptg.

Drove the Ford (G. Audrey, Lisbeth) to Waikoko beach there to join Surmine, Ed, Mike & Carl. Used my just bot (4.00) mask & Carl's snorkel for some fine sightings of fish among the coral reef boulders. A new sport for me. Left at 5 for home. After supper went over to cannery to luau for poi, salmon, pig, opihi. Soda, chicken & some music & hula. Then to YBA for the bon dance. Then back for family photos in d. & then slides of Harvey's of Honopu. How like Hanakapian & geology & form.

Sun-recovering from the food of the luau & all the food here! Stayed in, painted. To lagoon with diving mask, got some sea cucumbers. Picked a whole lot of loong guan - from the tall ladder & with a long stick. (Lichee tree is dying of the heat). After supper - [[strikethrough]] go [[/strikethrough]] the magazine game in  l.r. with Ed's kids. Hot, sticky. [[strikethrough]] Met [[/strikethrough]] Sandy left for Hono.

Mon. Hot sticky. To airport at 230 to see Ed & S. & kids off. [[strikethrough]] wanted to [[/strikethrough]] Worked on travel plans for Maui & Hawaii. Hot, terrible heat.

Tues 8/17 - To Lihue - Ault Travel bureau to obtain reserv. for Maui & Hawaii trip. Then a drive to Haena: lunch on the ironwood-cove studded sand, the view of Napali spoiled by dozens of tourist bathers (can't get in to landscape when there are people around) then to Hanalei to Ching Young Store (bought a tapa to Annie for a good swim (Earlier coming into Hanalei,
