My dear Mrs. Blake:
In mail awaiting me on my return from a long journey through the Pearl Islands in the Gulf of Panama I have received the sad news of the death of your husband, and write to give my sincere sympathy, in which Mrs. Urhmore joins. I do not need to tell you of our long years of friendship and of our association in many matters of mutual interest. Truly I shall miss him as friend far more than I may tell you in this brief note.
I hope that it is consolation in some way to you to remember the high regard in which we held Sidney both as a scientist
