George H. Pepper, Esq.,
Museum of The American Indian,
Broadway at 155th St.,
New York City.

Dear Mr. Pepper:

Early in the present year when I called upon you with reference to securing photographs of American Indians, you volunteered to furnish me information on matters where Indians are concerned. At the moment I wish to take advantage of your offer because one of our editors is anxious to know where in this country a book or books about Mary Jemison, the White Woman of the Genesee can be obtained. Doubtless you know that Letchworth Park was recently dedicated by New York State as a memorial to this figure in Colonial History. The Review of Reviews for November carried an interesting story about the park which interested Mr. Mee, the editor in question, and he is most anxious to find out all he can about Mary Jemison. In the R. of R. article several extracts are published from the Jemison Woman's account of her life among the Seneca Indians.

I will be real grateful if you will let the bearer of this note know where the book by Mary Jemison can be procured and any other books about this remarkable woman, or if you will drop me a line at your convenience.

Trusting you will be able to help me out in this matter and with many thanks in anticipation of your interest, I am,

Sincerely yours,
Joseph T. Gleason
