There are lots of poor people to help since the war, and makes one feel as if they knew not where to begin first. Wednesday here was a very warm pleasant day, so in the afternoon I went up stairs and started up the old machine, and fixed the tension, and it's now good as new. I don't want any new machine, for my old one will last me as long as I shall need one.I am glad to know you are interested in sewing and you may be able to get good ideas, which may prove a benefit to you sometime, if not now. Pa has just gone up stairs to change his clothes he has just written his letter to Lena and later on he will don rubber boots and fight his way down town through the drifts for this, is the worst one we have experienced this winter but "winter never rots in the sky" as the old saying is. Gertrude Loving runs over often, she expects a little one next summer, but is very handy with her needle so she can make little things and likes no better job she was not reconsiled to her condition at first, as she wanted lots of things for the home, but believes our lives are mapped out for us from the first and every thing for the best, she has been an awful little worker, always done the work of a man, driven horse to plow, planted potatoes and hoed (her brother was a cripple) you know. well this will do for this time Ma.
