Sloughton January 16th 1921

Dear Doris,
Now I will sit down awhile and write to you. I have been working all the forenoon. It was sunny and so thought - as long as the air was stirring good it would be a good day to dry the clothes. My dinner is cooking, it will be done in about half an hour. We are to have a roast of lamb, and as Lena is not here I will not have to put on so many frills just plain apple pie for desert. I made a washington pie, but I don't feel like whipping up the cream for it, so will have it some other day. Pa's cold descended to me, and two days this week, I was about all in but managed to keep around and do my work, although it was hard work.
Helen went up to Mrs. Saffords last Thursday is to stay there if the place suits her otherwise she will hold on to her other place till she finds out.
