The dress is to be made up, a very fine piece of goods, cotton & lavender, my favorite color, it will make me a nice afternoon rig for next summer, she is too free with her money, but it does no good to talk to her, she is bound to spend it on us. Cousin Addie sent me a doiley, one she embroidered, very nicely done, like all of her work. So you see we have had our share of Xmas presents. Pa wears his ring all the time, and thinks a good deal of it. there is no stone to get loose in it.
Our snow disapeared last night, and it seems so good to see the bare ground once more. I have planted some grape fruit seeds, this morning in my flower pots. just to see the kind of vine it makes, they say its pretty. Pa brought me some more narciss[ies]? bulbs to grow in water, the ones Lena gave to us, have got through they were very satisfactory. Pa has gone to the McGarvy boys funeral. it is in Vt[?] Universalist church, the body came from over cross and arrived here sometime Friday it is to be a militery funeral.
