the matter, the letter come while Lena was here the last time, and she did not talk of anything else all the rest of the day. its a shame and I'd break the will. I am sending a little piece of silk that her sister sent her for a petticoat, and Lena thinks she can get out a dress, she says her house is full of such things. its a very nice piece of silk. I have been very busy as usual. I shall finish the night dress today and send it along tomorrow. We have not moved in our little stove yet, I want to clean the carpet first for it is awful dirty, lots of things I see that need to be done and yet I am busy all the time. Pa went to lodge meeting Thursday night and brought home an enormous ice cream. O didn't it taste good, it did not seem right to be eating it all alone. I thought of you and bobbie, poor Pa had the cramp all the rest of the night terribly, his legs are sore yet. We are having cool weather & yet I have not taken in my old geraniums, but its because I dont have time. I covered them up last night, the thermometer was down to 34 degrees this morning. Pa has made the house good and warm by putting on the storm windows, it makes a great difference. Well this is about all there is to tell about this time.

So long Ma

Does the degree symbol (ยบ) need to be transcribed as the symbol or is okay to replace with the word degrees?
