Georgia Smith is home again much to Jack Waylands relief, after a weeks sojourn up to Roys, on his wedding tour (went up in his car,) said he about froze to death up there, and Myrtie had gone to New Jersy started that morning they did. they found plenty of cold weather up there also snow and ice, deliver me from such countries. we are rejoycing to think our ground is still bare. Pa has got in a plenty of clearing up of the land back of the house, and if the weather is mild, will do lots of spading up before winter sets in. he likes to use the old grub hoe on the soft leaf mold soil, full of roots, and stones. I wish we could raise more potatoes another summer. they are as profitable as anything, and easy to raise. our tomatoes are our best vegetable. they are so healthful for one to eat. next to oranges. I read not too long ago. [blank space] Amos came up to see [Frason?] one day this week, and told Arthur that his walking days were over as he went up into the [Osty?] neighborhood, and it was all he could to to get back again, so he is getting worse, and is liable to go as Uncle Albert did, without any warning. we ought to go and see him oftener, we should miss his genial presence. Amos is a good fellow. without a single flaw. too bad he couldnt have had children to carry on the name. it will soon die out with our generation. well it is time to start the dinner Pa will come home cold and hungry
