Dear Doris-

This is one of the 0 mornings but sunny and still. We are having winter in earnest but I am thankful that there is no snow to contend with but that will come later.

We had a very nice Xmas, Lena came out the night before in the rain. she is still here and yesterday went in to the frat and met all the girls she says that Mildred Metcalf looked the oldest, the oldfashioned way she has in doing her hair showing her ears. she told them about Ruth's contemplated marriage, then she came home with a head ache and went right off to bed.

You asked about her going back, she has next week and wants me to sew for her. she is making over her codoroy suite [[corduroy suit?]] but she had a lot of old things come from her sister, among them is a dress skirt navy blue, which she has no use for, and given to me, also a fur coat which she wants me to have, but I am putting her off, and she is going to show it to Mrs. Toby to see if she can fix it, otherwise she won't wear it. it was nice in its day and long.

We opened your box about ten after I had my turkey a going and we were all assembled. you sent a lot, to begin the mats for the table we all enjoy they look nice and are very different material from the old ones.
