The diesease is in a very light form. Mrs Dykeman came up with her order and said Mikes children were all down with the disease and were eating everything in sight. the mother didn’t realise  or seem to care much what they did. Golding is the doctor. Well the sun comes out occasionally and it’s cool and everything looks green and thrifty. I suppose you are having a fine trip, did Gertrude go with you? Otherwise she must feel lost. Helen may is here with her family. Amy is going to move and will not be able to come home this summer they say. I paid .15 for a bunch of four measely little beets. ours are growing in the garden. What there is of them and we have lettuce to give to our neighbors. its just in its prime, with some more just coming up in the hot bed. well now I must get dinner and your father will tell you the rest.

PS No showers yet 4 O'clock. We are having it cool, brisk breeze from the S.E. its almost time for Pa to go down and post his leter. we are quietly sitting out under the shade of our oak trees, with the birds sailing over head. Too bad to lose that little grosebeak darn the old cat.
