I have the honor to call your attention to the enclosed letter of N.L. Brakeman Cor Secy Orphan Home New Orleans La, said letter was handed me by William Holmes F.M.C the most popular colored preacher in this city.  Mr Holmes represents that the church over which he is presiding Elder, has for the past year maintained a large number of destitute, Fatherless children to young in years to support themselves, that on account of the failure of the crops the past year and the consequent dispossession in the money market that his Church is too poor to extend aid commensurate with their necessities.  And asks transportation from the Bureau to send them to some charitable institution.  I respectfully request if consistent with the Rules of the Bureau that Mr Holmes request be granted and transportation be furnished.
