Gen Gillem:

Esteemed Sir:
Having just returned home I have not had the opportunity of calling on you as I desire to do & hope you will excuse an entire stranger for addressing you in a matter of pure commendation of a third person. The case is one involving the the great interest of the passing hour & I hope may not be deemed inappropriate.

The bearer hereof Capt. Q Warner is making arrangement for several planters to obtain hands, and needs your assistance in completing the arrangements.

I know Capt. Warner well & assure you that you may rely on any representations he may make, & any undertaking he engages to accomplish may be confidently trusted for success.

Very Respectfully
Yours
C K Marshall
