Stoughton Feb 9th" 1930

Dear Doris -

This is the second sunny day though cold.  towns people are hurrying to get what ice they can, before another thaw.
Thus far February seems our most winterish month.  the going is very trecherous [[treacherous]] still.
The only time I get any out of doors exercize [[exercise]], is in carrying out the ashes after sifting it down cellar.  I am trying to make a good sidewalk on Seaver Street with them.
The coasting is pretty good for the kids, they are at it way into the evening, but the Carara boy, had his leg broken by a taxie running into him while coasting  his father is out of work, & there are lots of children to care for.
I have got four new sheets & lots of pillow cases & now have begun on your
