so much sickness & not near as many deaths as last year.  but there is still time for both   I called up Kate yesterday on the phone & she said Mrs Dykeman was getting along fine & wanted to come down stairs next week.  I hope it is so, but the last time I saw her she did not seem so well, but it is possible that she may pull through.  but never to work as she has all her life.  she is very ambitious.  Jack Wayland has rheumatism pretty bad  Pa was going down early this morning so to help him on with his frock & coat.  his arms are pretty stiff.  Johnnie is growing old like the rest of us.  Esther Snowdales boy has got scarlet fever, they live up on broadway.  he goes to Junior high  no cases in school they say.  Agnes Murphy has been promoted to Principal of Drake school & Ethel Standish Principal of the Clapp school.  well Little Betty is getting pretty forward these days in everything but teeth, no flies on Betty.  Ma    Dont work so hard.
