Dear Doris

We woke up to find it a very cold temperature thermometer stood at 6° above. we were having black clouds & snow flurries the greater part of the afternoon yeasterday. but we are in hopes the wind gets out of NW and is warmer to day. I am sitting here by the glass door in the sun writing My letter & manage to keep warm.

it does sum good to see bare ground again & to go out & feel safe without ice to have to mind ones step for fear of slipping. I sent a picture of the baby also to Cousin Addie it was the baby & you sitting on the piazza. she putting on daddies hat, it showed the pretty view beyond & was also such a fine likeness of you both. I thought she could see the pretty place where you lived
