Dear Doris

The new year is not starting in very bright this morning, & the going is very slippery still. I went down to the corner store after a yeast cake after supper in the evening, the first time for over a week I had ventured out. This morning I have mixed up a batch of bread & made some squash pies. Pa has been splitting kindlings off of the old fire logs, side of the little building & is now washing up & shaving himself for the day. Old Moses has just crawled by the house on the ice expecting every minute to fall, but he never will he is too careful. Monday I was greatly surprised to receive a call from Mrs. George Loring & Gloria, she said as she was going by the house, Gloria wanted to come in
