August 11th 1929 

Dear Doris, 

We are having a little rain this morning, but are afraid it won't ammount to much still we live in hopes. Our shower yesterday went around like all the others this summer, they carry destruction in their wake, so on the whole, we don't lose much and are glad to escape them. But want the moisture terribly. Well Friday I went up to  Thompsons and he had just got out from one of his heart attacks. they are quick and just as soon as he is over it, to work he goes. Alice Lambert was there. She thinks by this time, the Griffins must be up in Worcester, for her last letter
