Dear Doris

We are in the midst of a warm spell, cool air but terrible hot dry spell in spite of it this weather our summer squashes are forming & tomatoes growing. we have good vegitables come up from Mitchells farm daily. their farm being in low damp ground, does not feel the drough. We are eating but little meat this summer, it is very high in prices, & we dont seem to crave it. I keep my perishable things down cellar, but intend taking ice next month. after you come home. it hardly pays just for us two. our cellar is very cool & dark with one window open & screened in for air. which makes it nice & cool
