mainly family labor, plus perhaps a boy or two from outside, sometimes a boy who has had training at ASRI (Akademi Seni Rupa Indonesia)
some of the children of Taman Sari families have also been sent to A.S.R.I. and generally have a split in both quality and price between paintings done by kids from A.S.R.I and the kids who just "learned at home" - bargained for a few paintings and four the prices for pieces by the A.S.R.I. kids about Rp15,00 ($US37.50) while other pieces could be had for Rp2000-3000 ($US 5.00-7.50)
