Bantul in an area of moderate to moderately poor fertility land in front of the village near the main road planted in sawah, but acc, to Dep. Per. officials that land belong to another desa acc. to the same official the land belonging to Kasongan villagers is not cared for ("dibiarkan saja") because they have a traditional belief that they will not have any luck as potters if they try to farm / or alternatively, that their fate is always to have bad luck with their farming (?) -is not clear whether they ever allow persons from other desas to sharecrop their land or not - have heard that some of their land is rented out [[rented out is underlined in blue]] to the huge Madukismo sugar factory nearby, about 1/4 prior to 1978 Tebu Rakyat program
