Aug 1, 1978: interview with Yuwono, Iulesh Kajen
[[left margin[[ with Marni + Yon]]
Dukoh Kajen (Kasongan area) sub-divided further into 3 kampongs
        Kasongan
        Sentanan
        Kajen
most of the pensajin in the first 2 (Kal Bangunjiwo actually consists of 4 old kal. krings? combined in 1948, i.e. kal Kasongan, - Bangen, Srimbitan, Kajin
-most or all of land in Kajin is pekafrangan whereas sawah owned by Kajin people is in the dukoh of Gedungan- several of the dukohs in the area apparently like this i.e. the entire dukoh consists of pekarangan while sawah owned by people in the dukoh actually lies in Gedungan
acc, to Pak, Yuwono sawah in Gendungan is mainly rain-fed ("tadah hujan") because water supply from Dam Mataram is not enough for Gedungan - in dry season sawah land drys up and cracks (pecah-pecah) -last year poor harvests due to drought

[[41]]
-normally plant padi 2 times a year
-Kajin, Tirta + Kalipucang dukohs sandy soil in Gedungan some of soil sandy, some clay
-clay for ceramics, acc. to Yuwono, from rented sawahs in Gedungan - must rent because usually pengrajin don't own any sawahs
land rented as a source of clay is not planted
after being used as a source of clay can be planted again because the land taken is from underneath at a depth of about 1 M. while the humus topsoil ("tanah humus") is not taken
one year take from this sawah, the next year from the neighboring sawah so that the land becomes even again (so that irrigation not disturbed?)
-acc. to Marni's notes 2 kilometers of land in Gedungan are rented this way ((recheck))
-rented as a group by 30-40 pengrajin at a time
-walls +- 10M deep; not every
