orders from the other perapens
-still squat when making tools
-produce tools all yr. round + and use buruh for petanean

-in Sen Asen a perapen is called a "pandai"
-one perapen makes 10 paculs & 10 giggan ((plow tips?)) a day using 35 + 5 K iron = 40 K
iron sells for 125 Rp a K == 5000 Rp a day worth of iron
use 3 pikuls of areng @ 1500 a day == 4500 Rp
areng is bought in the mountains - is made from kaya jambu nete and kayu asem
price of areng does not go up in the rainy season
best paculs sell for 1000 Rp, #2 quality for 900 Rp and #3 quality for 800 Rp

hence can estimate daily intake at between 11,000-13,000 minus 9,500 worth of new mats leaves 1,500-3,500 profit per perapen per day
thus far they have never had any govn. assistance
the 2nd yr. project will include:
1.  peralatan (given = "diberi")
2.  kursus ketrampilan
3. credit in the form of iron supplied thru LSD
the kursas ketrampilan will include teaching them to work standing up

wives in Sen Asen don't work in perapens & we were told they also don't take care of fields
we were told by Pak Sugri (lurah?) that major problem in Sen Asen is lack of capital - they would rather get credit in form of cash than iron
- all 6 pandais are also pengusaha;
- work on a sharing basis: of every 30 paculs made, 20 are for the pengusaha & 10 for the buruh
giggen also divided 2 to 1 (this means each buruh has 2 paculs)
