A.A. comes from Banjar Sehseh, Kel. Singapadu, Kec. Sukawati he is 31 years old and lives in an extended family household with his parents, wife, two children, and three younger brothers and sisters aged 20-28
are about 50 households in Sehseh which make silver goods
A.A. works at home and makes goods to sell to Celuk and Kuta; no store at home
his wife and younger brothers and sisters are also pengrajin perak and work with him at home
other sources of family income are selling slang2 to make thatch roofs (father) and raising bananas and coconuts on 23 are of dry land (father)
A.A. has had 4 BRI loans, as follows:
a. 1984 loan for 200,000 Rp., used for
 1. 200 grams of silver @ 500 Rp
 2. 2 grams of gold @ 25,000 Rp
 3. kompor, 20,000 Rp
 4. othe tools, 20,000 Rp
 5. minyak bensin for heating (?), 10,000 Rp
b. 1985 loan for 800,000 Rp., used for
 1. 1 1/2 kg. silver @400,000 Rp
 2. 6 grams gold @ 24,000 Rp.
 3. 10 liters minyak @350 Rp.
 4. 52,500 advances to tukang (he has 2 hired, non-family workers as well)
c. 1987 loan for 2 million , used for
 1. 4 kg .silver @ 400,000 Rp.
 2. 8 grams gold, @ 23,000 Rp
 3. 20 liters minyak @ 400 Rp

he and his younger brothers and sisters work from 67 a.m. to noon and then again from 1 p.m. to 5
they also work about 15 evenings a month, fro 7 p.m. to 9
his wife works some hours, but only one hour in the evenings
they leave about 7 days a month free for ceremonies
take off another 10 days for each Galungan and Kuningan (every 6 months) and 3 days for Nyepi
