Stoughton Dec 27th 1930 Dear Doris I have just received your long letter. Thankful for its arrival this snowy day, a real old fashioned snow storm is beating the New England coast, first a gale with rain, south wind which turned into a NW snow storm. this morning early. Lena came out Xmas afternoon sick with a cold. I was scart [[scared]] for fear she might have added to it coming, but after soaking her feet that night, she seemed a little better, but we managed to keep her in bed the next day although she is up this morning, & seems much better. I have just perswaided [[persuaded]] her to lie down & she is asleep now. I have got an apple pie & two loaves of bread in baking. I made a rice pudding for Xmas & we are eating turkey every day. We were sorry Sidney had a cold to spoil your Xmas, but hope he is better now & no one else comes down with it. too bad you spent so much on us, for our box was mostly home made things that did not mean but a precious little Pa & I were pleased with our slippers he said his would almost answer for summer low shoes.
