Dear Doris.

We are having tough winter minus snow. yesterday we found the thermometer registered two above 0 a very cold night to sleep through as there was a wind to make the matter worse but luckily the gale subsided so this morning its only 10° above but goodness knows thats [[that's]] bad enough. we are looking for it to moderate today. Pa has been out two evenings agoing & we havent [[haven't]] had much sleep. yesterday he went to Horace Lows [[Low's]] funeral he died Sunday afternoon from worry over his wifes [[wife's]] sickness. She went into a coma & as they said knew nothing that was going on around her. but has come out of it, and said she knew he died. she may recover. but her brother (Fred Drake) they say is raving & they have carried him to an asylum. I guess he & Booby have punished more than has been a benifit [[benefit]] & are being taken care of away from the town I pity Harolds [[Harold's]] wife & child dont [[don't]] you?

Transcription Notes:
degree sign at 10 above "she" is under lined Do you think Ma meant to say, "I guess he and Booby have been punished more..."? Left out "have"? Edited - no need for indentations or [[underlined]].
