Dear Doris

This is one of the cold cold mornings & cloudy, looks like snow wind north west. a hard day to be out Pa is shaving & may go up to the cemetery to carry the wreath I have just been making. he got the evergreen a week ago today & said he most got lost in the woods, [[and?]] tramping all over creation for it, he got home pretty tired & [[had a?]] cramp the worst way at night, so there was not much [[illegible]] for us that night.

Maude called me on Friday afternoon to see her dresses & silver ornaments, to go with the green velvet dress, she is to wear at the wedding. and the dark blue trimmed with light blue, the other dress, two new dresses & green brocade slippers to wear with the green velvet dress. I guess that rich aunt has been very good to her sisters [[sister's]] family. according to Maude she seems to take to young Ralph a good deal, so he wont [[won't]] suffer financially, while she is about, the lucky cus. Maude is still at work on their wedding presents. she gave me a group of us three, she took down to the little cottage, where Pa is holding the baby with "goggie" in her arms, she had it enlarged & painted & it is a very good likeness of us three we think. she wants to get another film to do another one likewise. as she writes to you she wants just the film. so send it along. the one where her eyes are open holding the horse
