Stoughton June 18th 1930

Dear Doris

As Pa has just written a letter to Lena. I will begin one to you. We are having hot dry weather, but it shows signs of a rain I do wish it might. I am lugging pail after pail of water, to keep the plants alive. the lawns show signs of the drough [[drought]] already. our roses are looking well in spite of the hot dry atmosphere. I have just been sitting out & found out where my jerusilum [[jerusalem]] cherries go, as they have most all disappeared from the bush, it was covered, & we were proud of it. the robins are the culprits. I saw one robbing it & shooed him away. I hope it makes him have coleramobus [[cholera morbus]]. it takes so long to grow them & have them fruit, I am discouraged & now I will never take it in again, but let the plant go. Tina gave me the bush I miss her so much this summer, how I enjoyed going up through the fields to see her. there are only a few left to go to visit now.
