PS George & wife have just been in to show us a brown thrasher he got away from a cat. he cant fly. & George is going to put salve on his wing & see if he cant cure him so to let him go again after a little while. he is very tender-hearted & likes birds. I told him Sidney would like him to stuff & he said he could send him down to him but he is going to live I think

Dear Doris.

The weather is cool since our one sweltering day. Friday was a sultry day & ended in a shower at night. which tended towards putting out the fires that were destroying so much property. we could see the blaze on top of rattle snake hill in the evening. Ralph & Maude were both here, they had been to see it. but no one was allowed to stay, they kept them moving, so George & his wife said. I was sorry you robbed your self to send me those seeds. I have got them all planted & they are out in the hot bed. Thursday I went to Tims funeral. Mary Ansel asked me to call & go with them. she & Mrs Kendal & before we got there.
