Dear Doris

I have just come in from digging in the flower beds, it is cloudy but mild as rain is brewing. Pa & the two McGarveys are working, each trying to beautify their grounds. Pa is for giving Pete some shrubbery to sit out around his grounds. his dogs are thrashing around every where & would spoil any garden if left loose long. Poor Jack gets tied up pretty close these days, but as, soon as he does get away, he makes a bee line for here, he was running all night, but I found him on the steps early this morning. The family accross the way have moved out & no knowing who will come in there next. I am still planting seeds in boxes to set in the gardens later I planted zinnias they are a showey plant. so I am spading up & making my garden bigger to set them out I hope the season will be different this year from last. it was a dry time all over New England & nothing would grow.
