Dear Doris

Your letter just arrived. Pa has been down to the store & just got home he is clearing out some of the rubbish down there. he is looking forward to getting rid of every thing & means to burn up what trash he has thats of no use while he can. it was a relief to him what little he did this morning. We try to give him food which he should eat, for meat, he has lamb & chicken & no fat fish boiled, in small quantities. baked potato asparagas, spinage, dandelions, cabbage salads, bread cookies, one between, meals when he gets hungry . no milk coffy tea & ginger ale, his bowels are loose everytime he sleeps well & nothing seems to hurt him. The old woman in the next yard is cratching around like an old hen, she is great for having an old smudge fire Pa cant bear them he calls them millcanairs. We have not seen Maude & Ralph only once he is feeling pretty sober & has grown thin since
