The old house is still waiting for a painter. I thought I would not see him as he knew we wanted it done in June + he is liable to start in most any time now. Pa is quiet for a day or two back. he is like the baby in not wanting any tom sleepmin the morning. he can't wait for breakfast either.

I can't find my sickle any where so am cutting the grass around my flower beds with the bug shears. The wind is South west [?] I have been loosening the dirt around my tomato plants. they are broadening out. I put the fertilizer around them but those on the other side were fertized by back house manure in the dirt before the plants were set out. Grant said he did his that way + so I had it put in the same here. I won't have to water the plants any more. they have a good start. I dare say Ralph + Maude are at their shore place today.I hope they bring in some clams they tasted good to us.You must be riding also. Its a fine day. I am going to read books for my recreation. Ma.
